APOSTOLIC GOSPEL TEMPLE, 29a Australia Road, Kingston 11
Pastor Hazel McGhie.
Contact: Sis. Donna Arboine
[Tel. (876) 923-4033 or 571-0887; donnaarboine@yahoo.com]

The late Pastor McGhie, husband of the present Pastor established this work. He was a friend of the founder of the Pentecostal Gospel Temple and an ardent worshipper and a soldier in the army of the Lord. The church is situated in Seaward Gardens, 29a Australia Road Kingston 11.

On the death of the founder, his wife, Evangelist Hazel McGhie was named the Pastor of the Church and still remains in that position. Over the years of existence, the work was assisted and well supported by Evangelist Gloria Spencer, from the Pentecostal Gospel Temple. Currently, Elder Elaine McCarthy assists closely with the church.

We thank God for this assembly, which has been consistent in its efforts to continue in service for the Lord despite the many obstacles encountered and the volatility of the area in which they labour.

ELLETSON FLATS PENTECOSTAL GOSPEL TEMPLE, 9 Doherty Drive, Kingston 7
Pastor: Beryl Prince-Brown
Contact:
Sis. Claudette Shand [Tel. (876) 856-2897 (c ); 927-2054 (w); 897-1949; cyshand@yahoo.com]

This work began in 1970 by Evangelist Beryl Prince-Brown with house-to-house prayer and counseling in the community. She was at that time (and still remains) a teacher at the School of Hope for handicapped children. Her love for these children extended from academia into the spiritual and she started a Sunday school with thirty (30) of the boarders there. She was then requested to conduct church services at the community center, for which she got permission from PGT.

She is devoted and sincere in her efforts and has committed herself not only to teach the word but also to live the life as unto the Lord. This assembly has been the recipients of top awards from singing, drama and speech competitions within the church family. It is presently in the process of erecting a church edifice as a place of worship on a fully paid-up plot of land. We give thanks for its start at the School of Hope.

Elletson Flats has experienced growth in the Ministry. There are now three main departments operating well, namely: Youth, Sunday school and Men’s Ministry. May the Lord bless them in their endeavours as we thank and praise God for their faithfulness.

FAITH PENTECOSTAL GOSPEL TEMPLE, Mount Royal, Border, St. Mary. Click here for website
Pastor: Overseer Gwendolyn Reid
Contact: Minister Norman Wilberforce
[Tel. ]

Under the able leadership of Pastor Gwendolyn Reid, this work was established in 1981. It is nestled in the hills of the parish of St Mary as a place of refuge for the weary spirit and has been a beacon in the community of Border over the many years.

After dialogue with Pastor Carmen Stewart, it became part of the PGT family. In 1988 the church was damaged by Hurricane Gilbert, but new land was purchased in 1990 and a church built.

The assembly now occupies a beautiful building, which was extended and completed in 2002. It has a dynamic and vibrant ministerial body and this is evident in the growth, which has been experienced in the church over the past number of years. Pastor Reid lost her husband several years ago, but has remained faithful despite this and other challenges.

The church has emerged as a pillar of Truth in the Paisley environs and surrounding areas. The various ministries and outreach programmes have been a source of support to many. We appreciate the work of this church and pray God’s continued blessings on the Pastor and saints of this assembly now and for the future.

JOHNS TOWN PENTECOSTAL GOSPEL TEMPLE, St. Thomas
Contact: Evangelist Vincent Scott

The Johns Town church came into existence over 20 years ago, when a member of PGT, who hails from that district, felt the urge for a Pentecostal church to be in that area. She donated a piece of land and approached the leadership of PGT to establish a work there. The pioneer of this work was Evangelist Gloria Spencer who was sent from PGT, Kingston.

Unfortunately she had to leave the island and since then Elder Charles Phillips, Elder Ascott McCormack, Elders Merlyn and Herman Nelson as well as Sis. Miller from Johns Town have assisted in this work. At present Evangelist Vincent Scott is in an overseer position, with the consistent assistance of Elders Nelson.

The church’s growth was hindered by many factors, one of which could have been the inaccessible location. The location was therefore revisited and recently, this was changed to a spot on the main road. It is hoped that this will result in more obvious growth. We thank God for the Johns Town assembly and pray for its success.

ONENESS PENTECOSTAL GOSPEL TEMPLE, Cinnamon Crescent, Kingston
Pastor: Princess Webber

This church is the latest one to become a part of the PGT family. In 2000 the leadership of the PGT family of churches was approached by Evangelist Princess Webber to assist her as she established a work on Cinnamon Crescent in the Olympic Garden / Seward Pen area.

She was ordained Pastor of the work in 2001 and has since been doing a great work especially among the young people in that area. The saints are vibrant, committed and full of fire as they testify, sing and give praises to God.

The Lord be praised for this work and we pray that it will continue to grow and benefit the area, all to the glory of God. May the Lord bless Pastor Webber and saints.

PENTECOSTAL GOSPEL TEMPLE MINISTRIES, Inc., Margate, Florida. Click here for website.
Pastor: Drs. Marlene and Desmond Murray

The saints, from PGT Kingston, who were living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, saw the need for a work to be established, as many only visited existing churches in the area on Sundays. The work was established in June 1992. This church became a Florida Corporation in March 1998. However, things changed in 1997 and presently Pastors Desmond and Marlene Murray are in charge of the Lord’s working this area. The church is involved in much community work and has received a number of awards from the State of Florida for outstanding work in the community of Pompano Beach where they are most active.

Indeed the Lord has been faithful and despite the challenges, which this church faced, it is progressing for the Lord. A land location has recently been purchased and the building programme is moving ahead rapidly. On October 31, 2003 the Carmen Stewart Apostolic Institute of learning, Department of Higher Education and School of Arts commenced its fall semester, and there have been several graduates to date.

The prayers of the PGT family are also with this church as it is our desire to see it become a tower of strength to the many persons who migrate to the Miami and Fort Lauderdale areas, as well as win souls for the Kingdom of God.

PENIEL PENTECOSTAL GOSPEL TEMPLE APOSTOLIC INC., New York, USA
Pastor: Travea Farquharson

Bro. Travea Farquharson was an “upstanding” member of PGT Kingston. In the 1980s he and his family migrated to New York, United States of America and worshipped at several churches. On the relocation of Elder Lincoln Walker to Texas, the pastor of our related church, there was need for a Pentecostal Church in the immediate community.

A wonderful couple made the second floor of their home available for prayer meetings and worship began under the “oversight” of Bro. Farquharson. Later this church was to be relocated elsewhere and Bro. Farquharson was named the Pastor. The church was incorporated in March 1992.

Today it does not boast a very large number of members but has a vibrant Youth, Sunday school, Evangelism/ Outreach and other Ministries. By faith, Pastor and his wife, Minister Paulette Farquharson see a vibrant church in full gear for the Lord as growth is ongoing and God’s presence is evident. A place of worship has been recently opened up for them and we trust God for His guidance and provision in acquiring it. Pastor Farquharson’s vision is to reach all segments of society, touching lives as Jesus did.

STANBURY GROVE PENTECOSTAL TEMPLE, Stanbury Grove, St. Catherine
Pastor: Doris McPherson

In the 1970s Evangelist L. Timol returned to the island of Jamaica from England. She was acquainted with the district of Standbury Grove in the parish of St. Catherine, where she established a church. She laboured there until her passing, after which Sis. Doris McPherson continued and was appointed as Pastor of the work.

Although Evangelist Timol started the building of an edifice for worship, it was extended and completed under the leadership of the present Pastor. The membership is not very large, but the Assembly boasts some very dedicated and committed saints among whom, and topping the list, is Pastor McPherson herself, who travels from Kingston religiously every Sunday and sometimes during the week, rain or shine, to fulfill her pastoral obligations.

We give glory to God for this work and will endeavour to support it with our prayers and general assistance. May God bless them as they win and keep souls.
